Putting Service to Bed: Our Latest Lift Where You Live" Project with Sleep in Heavenly Peace
At the core of our community philosophy is a simple idea: Lift Where You Live. It’s the belief that we don’t have to look far to find meaningful ways to make a difference. Sometimes, the greatest impact we can make is right in our own backyard, helping our next-door neighbors.
For our latest Lift Where You Live activity, our team rolled up their sleeves, grabbed some power tools, and partnered with an incredible organization: Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP).
Our mission? To make sure that no kid in our town sleeps on the floor.
The Reality: A Hidden Need
It’s easy to take a warm, comfortable bed for granted. But the reality is that thousands of children across the country—and right here in our own community—go to sleep every night on piles of blankets, couches, or the hard floor.
Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a wonderful non-profit dedicated to building and delivering top-notch bunk beds to children in need. When a child gets a good night's sleep, they wake up ready to learn and have better chances for success. That’s right in line with what we seek to do through our Lift Where You Live monthly projects.
From Raw Lumber to a Sweet Dream
We gathered in the warehouse on a Monday evening with coworkers, friends and family. SHP had all the blueprints, the specialized tools, and the safety gear. We brought the muscle and the heart.
The assembly line was a sight to behold:
The Cut Station: Raw pieces of lumber were measured and chopped to perfect framing lengths.
The Sanding Station: Every single board was sanded down thoroughly to ensure absolutely zero splinters for the kiddos.
The Drill & Assembly Station: Wood met screws as headboards, footboards, and side rails took shape.
The Staining Station: A beautiful, protective finish was applied to give the beds that official, cozy look.
Fun Fact: By the end of the night, our team had successfully built 24 headboards and began steps 20 more! That means 44 children will get to experience the comfort and dignity of having their very own bed.
More Than Just Wood and Screws
What makes the Lift Where You Live initiative so special isn't just the physical work we do—it’s the connection it builds. Watching our team members teach each other how to use a drill, laughing through the sawdust, and working toward a shared goal reminded us of what we can achieve when we come together.
A bed is more than just a piece of furniture. It’s a foundation for a good night’s sleep, which leads to better health, better performance in school, and a happier childhood.
A Huge Thank You!
We want to extend a massive thank you to the Lehi chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace for guiding us through the build and for the incredible work they do day in and day out.
And, of course, thank you to everyone from our team who showed up, got their hands dirty, and lived out our mission. You didn't just build beds; you built hope.
